Passport-On-Wheels arrives in Central Luzon

The mobile passport processing unit called “Passport-On-Wheels” by the Department of Foreign Affairs was launched in Angeles City, Pampanga last January 22.

The Angeles City Government offered the Passport-On-Wheels to speed up passport processing in Central Luzon, reported Sunstar.

On its launch on Monday, more than 1,400 pre-registered applicants were accommodated.

DFA Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said the Passport-On-Wheels is one of the ways to help resolve passport application problems, especially in Angeles City – the city where the biggest number of passport inquiries, requests, and processes were recorded, said the report.

“With the present atmosphere of technology of technology, the DFA should not close its doors to innovations. We are moving as fast as we can, given the government regulations,” Cayetano said.

Angeles City is the first city outside of Metro Manila to roll out Passport-On-Wheels.

The mobile passport processing unit aims to help the consular office located at MarQuee Mall, as residents from Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Pangasinan go there to have their passports processed.

Unlike what happened in Manila City Hall last week, the 1,400 applicants who went there were satisfied with the organized application system of the Passport-On-Wheels in Angeles City.

Even Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan commended DFA for its efforts in resolving the long-lived passport application process.
