Bridge to ease traffic in airport road opens in Dubai

A new bridge that aims to ease traffic congestion has been opened at the intersection of Airport Road and Casablanca Street in Dubai today, January 19.

According to Mattar Al Tayer, director-general of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the additional single-lane bridge will help serve the traffic activities along airport road toward Casablanca street, reported Gulf News.

“The Improvement of the Airport Street Project is part of RTA plan to accommodate the projected growth in the number of passengers using the Dubai International Airport which is expected to shoot to 92 million passengers by 2020,” Al Tayer added.

Aside from the new bridge, RTA has also been planning the construction of alternative routes for motorists for easier access toward the airport. Upon its completion, airport street is projected to be capable of carrying an additional 5,000 vehicles per hour.

Traffic safety and easier traffic flow are also part of the promise.

Meanwhile, authorities called on motorists to comply on traffic rules including observing light signals and watching their speed limit to prevent accidents.
