Dubai, January 2018 – There is just no stopping Dubai in breaking yet again another world record. Captain Abdulla Al Hattawi of the Dubai Police stunt team, on Friday Jan. 12, set an impressive 60km record for the world’s longest non-stop wheelie on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) – smashing the current record by 10 kilometers.
Capt. Al Hattawi did it in approximately one hour and seven minutes, leaving point A in Ghantoot at 8:45am and clocking in at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) finish line at 9:52am, organizers said.
The bid was the opening act for the weekend’s Dubai Motorbike Festival. The previous record stood at 50km.
A wheelie is a trick or maneuver wherein the front wheel of a bike or motorcycle (in this case the ATV) is raised off the ground.
The route started from Ghantoot all the way to Sheikh Zayed Road and finished off at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) venue for the bike fest.
A convoy of Dubai Police super cars and some 300 big bikes from the motorbike clubs within the UAE supported Hattawi all throughout the wheelie ride.
“It is a wonderful feeling having to achieve the best accomplishment in my life. I’m happy that my name and record is among the world’s best.” said Capt. Al Hattawi
Hattawi added, “ The challenges were mostly the roads from curves and bridges but most importantly making sure that I have enough fuel. I also had to make sure that the engine doesn’t get damaged.”
Recognized as the top ATV stunt athlete in the world, Hattawi said he does his training fives times a week on his ATV for his stunt moves. This also include core exercise to prep up his body.
Adding to the list of Dubai Police’s local and international achievements are the Middle East Stunt Championship in Jeddah 2017 where Hattawi’s Dubai Police student teams won first place; and the World Stunt Championship in Casablanca where they bag the second.
Dubai has always been known as the “international city of superlatives” – from the world’s tallest building to the world’s longest unmanned metro, tallest hotel, highest base jump from a building… the list goes on.
