Mystery shoppers hit Dubai stores to monitor VAT

Dubai’s Department of Economic Development (DED) has deployed its personnel to make sure that there will be no irregularities in the implementation of value-added tax (VAT), reported Khaleej Times.

DED said they carry out regular inspections at various outlets and stores to make sure that they do not take undue advantage over VAT.

The agency assured the public that they continue to boost consumer protection awareness campaign as well.

All establishments that charge beyond the imposed 5% VAT will be fined.
