OFWs no longer need to set appointment for passport application

DFA Assistant Secretary Frank Cimafranca clarified in an interview on Wednesday that overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) no longer need to set up an appointment to renew their passports.

Some OFWs, especially those who need to fly to another country, complain that they had to wait for their appointment schedule for a couple of months to get or renew their passports.

“Ang mga OFW walang kailangang appointment. They can just come to any of our office, walk-in and apply,” Cimafranca said.

He said OFWs can directly proceed to priority lane in the DFA Aseana office or in their regional consular satellite offices with their requirements.

He said that this reminder is already stated in their website.

First-time OFWs or those who are still in the process of application to work abroad are also accommodated by the DFA through a special portal that can be used and accessed by their recruitment agency. Asec. Cimafranca said that this special portal is an innovation that they will launch this week.

Aside from OFWs, the following people can also walk-in to any DFA office to apply for a
passport even without an appointment:

1. Senior citizens with senior citizen ID
2. Person with disability with PWD ID or visible disability
3. Solo Parent with valid Solo Parent ID
4. Pregnant women with medical certificate
5. Minors seven years old and below
