PH Immigration to require foreigners to visit the agency starting January 2018

All foreign nationals registered with Bureau of Immigration (BI) are obliged to report in person to the agency starting on January and until March 1 next year as required under the 1951 Alien Registration Act.

The mentioned law requires a personal visit of BI-registered aliens to its main office in Intramuros, Manila or the nearest participating BI field, within the first 60 days of every calendar year for the agency’s annual report.

Failure to comply may be fined or imprisoned, said Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente.

BI-registered aliens refer to resident foreign nationals who have been issued immigrant or non-immigrant visas and bear the Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACR I-Card).

Upon making the report, the foreigner must present hi ACR I-Card and must pay a P300 annual report fee and P10 legal research fee. Those who scheduled an appointment through the bureau’s 2018 annual report online system must bring the confirmation number with them.

“For aliens who are not in the Philippines during the annual reporting period, they shall make the report within 30 days from the date of their return to the country, provided they have valid re-entry permits,” Morente said.

Parents or guardians of foreigners aged 14 years and below must make the report on their behalf.
