Paolo Duterte resigns as Davao City Vice Mayor

Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte resigned from his post on Christmas day, December 25, due to “recent unfortunate events” in his life, his resignation letter read.

The Vice Mayor also said that it was coupled with the failed marriage with first wife, Lovelie; the issue of P6.4 billion worth of shabu from China through the Bureau of Customs; and the recent feud with daughter Isabelle.

“There are recent unfortunate events in my life that are closely tied to my failed first marriage. These, among others, include the maligning of my reputation in the recent name-dropping incident in the Bureau of Customs smuggling case and the very public squabble with my daughter.”

The Presidential son also mentioned he honors the principle of delicadeza his parents have taught him and his resignation means protecting his honor and that of his children.

Before announcing his resignation, he did not forget to thank the overwhelming support of the “Dabawenyos” during his term.

“I am grateful to all the Dabawenyos for your support to my office and I look forward to the day that I will be able to serve our country again.”
