Christmas morning fire hits historic cathedral in Kalinga

KALINGA CITY – A fire exploded and burn St. Joseph Parish Church in  Tabuk City in Kalinga Province just after the midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.

Power lines apparently tripped causing the electric supply inside the church to go off twice around 2 a.m after the liturgical ceremony, reported Philippine Star.

Firemen rushed to the church and extinguished the fire after an hour.

No reports of injuries were recorded, but furniture and equipment inside the church were destroyed.

A temporary site for the churchgoers was set up beside St. Peter building within the parish compound.
