Mauled OFW to go home soon

The Filipina who was mauled by a relative of her employer in Iraq is bound to fly back to the Philippines soon.

Alice Soriano Aguilan, 39, cried for help on Facebook Live after the assault happened.

In the live video, Hammode Alsamawi, her employer’s relative, could be seen intently praying after the alleged mauling incident, reported Inquirer.

Upon seeing Aguilan recording the scene, he attacked the Filipina and attempted to snatch her phone.

An Iraqi boy stopped Hammode from continuously assaulting Aquilan. Hammode, as seen on video, made a throat-slitting gesture.

She called for help from the officials of the Philippine Embassy in Iraq via Facebook Messenger who arrived 15 minutes later.

The victim was brought to police to press charges, but she still needs exit visa before flying home. She was brought to the hospital instead to have her head checked.

Aguilan said it could be her Iraqi employer, Mazen Junis Alsamawi, who would foot her travel bills.

“Ang alam ko po, sir ko ang sasagot sa lahat ng gastos,” she said in an online interview with Inquirer. “Mabait po ang sir ko at mabilis kausap.”

At the moment, Aguilan remains in the custody of the Philippine Embassy.
