Bello condemns critics of new OFW ID

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III hits critics of the overseas Filipino workers identification cards which bear a watermark photo of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Bello, there is nothing wrong with the new OFW ID. There are just some agencies that want to mar the image of the Department of Labor and Employment, pointing out the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in particular.

CBCP Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People Chairman Ruperto Santos criticized the new OFW ID, saying that the President’s signature is very much “sufficient” and “enough”. Adding his photo on the card might impose self-promotion and politicking.

Malacañang claimed that Duterte was not even aware that his photo would be laid out on the ID design.

The labor secretary also strikes the religious sector saying he never got any negative reactions from the OFWs themselves.
