Suspected Uber, Grab cars thieves nabbed in Manila

Four suspected carjackers victimizing Uber and Grab drivers have been arrested by police in Manila over the weekend.

The suspects were identified as Wilfredo Alejandro, Jhon Lester Crispe, Russel Jimenez and Arvin Alejandro, reported GMA News.

Manila policemen arrested the suspects in an operation in Abad Santos Street in Tondo, Manila on Saturday afternoon.

Victor Calacar said the first three identified suspects — Wilfredo, Jhon Lester and Russel — were the ones who carjacked his vehicle in Manila.

Michael Panaligan, another victim, said Russel and Arvin took his car sometime last October. Arvin, however, claimed that he was in jail during the time and had just been recently released.

The three other suspects admitted that they took Calacar’s car.

They said they have stolen at least three Grab and Uber cars and they bring the stolen vehicles to a certain alias Sultan in Cavite.

Crispe said alias Sultan would pay them with cash and drugs.

Follow-up operations are being conducted against the cohorts of the suspects.
