An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who just came home from Dubai, UAE was nabbed after robbing a call center agent in Malate, Manila, November 29, 2017.
According to the victim, Jessica Labilles, she was walking near the corner of P. Ocampo and Muñoz Street at around 3 am when the suspect snatched her sling bag bearing her cellphone and wallet with P15,000 cash.
Once the suspect had what he wanted, he left on a motorcycle with his tandem.
Labilles sustained minor injuries as she tried to run after the riding-in-tandem while pulling her bag.
Police were able to identify the suspect after he left a trace at the scene – his wallet with an identification card – that helped track him down.
He was later identified by the authorities as John Paul Almonte, 25.
“Pinuntahan namin sa bahay with coordination sa Pasay police at ‘di naman nanlaban,” Chief Insp. Paulito Sabulao, Arellano police chief.
Although Almonte denied the allegation filed against him, the CCTV footage of the incident will serve as evidence, said the police.
Almonte’s accomplice is still at large.
