Dh30 million worth of fake goods confiscated in Ajman

Beware of fake branded products.

The Ajman Police confiscated thousands of these amounting to Dh30 million inside a villa at the Al Nuaimia area.

Around 85,413 bags, shoes, clothes and other accessories were stacked up in several rooms, all posing as international brands.

In addition, fake Apple and Samsung phones were also found in the area, Lt. Colonel Ghaith Khalifa Al Kaabi of Ajman Police said.

Al Kaabi said an Arab national who was a Louis Vuitton agent reported the violation to police, which led to the arrest of 11 Chinese men and women.

“Acting on the complaint, we launched a probe and found out that the suspects were storing the duplicate products at one of the villas located at Al Nuaimia area to be sold at the China market. After getting approval from the public prosecution, the villa was raided and the 11 Chinese arrested,” the Khaleej Times quoted Al Kaabi as saying.

According to the Federal Law No. (19) of 2016 on Combating Commercial Fraud, counterfeiting will earn violators a fine of Dh250,000 and a prison term of up to two years.
