LOOK: PH’s bet wins best national costume at Miss Earth 2017

The country’s bet in this year’s Miss Earth pageant stood out among other candidates with her Spanish-influenced Filipiniana, nabbing the gold medal in the national costume competition.

Karen Ibasco was awarded the best national costume among Asian pageant hopefuls.

The outfit’s maker, Laguna-based fashion designer Louie Pangilinan, incorporated stained glass designs and crosses on the Filipiniana, representing the country’s Spanish colonial period.

Candidates from Thailand and Japan received the silver and bronze medals in Asia, respectively.

Ibasco, who is a medical physicist, previously won the silver medal for the long gown pre-pageant competition.

The 2017 Miss Earth coronation night will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on November 4.
