SWS: Duterte’s cabinet gets ‘good’ rating

Public satisfaction with top government institutions for the third quarter of 2017 remain ‘good’ despite a drop in their overall net satisfaction rating, the Social Weather Stations survey revealed on Tuesday, October 17.

The net satisfaction rating of the Senate is at +32 or ‘good’, a three-point decline from +39 in June 2017.

The House of Representatives’ rating remained unchanged, receiving a net public satisfaction rating of +39, with 52 percent of Filipinos remaining satisfied with the lawmakers’ performance.

The Supreme Court, however, saw the biggest drop, with a seven-point decline from last quarter’s +38 net rating to +31 in September 2017.

Early September, the House of Representatives justice committee found the impeachment complaint filed by Atty. Larry Gadon against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno sufficient in form and substance.

The chief magistrate was accused of allegedly committing culpable violation of the Constitution, corruption, high crimes, and betraying public trust for failing to consult the High Court en banc in making decisions, among others.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s cabinet members also obtained a ‘good’ rating with a net satisfaction rating of +32 for the third quarter of 2017.

The quarterly survey was conducted among 1,500 respondents through face-to-face interviews.

The respondents were asked if they are Very satisfied, Somewhat satisfied, Undecided if satisfied or not, Somewhat dissatisfied, or Very dissatisfied with the overall performance of the said government institutions.
