The Abu Dhabi Police has launched a year-long campaign to raise awareness about different federal traffic laws among motorists to lessen road violations.
In their official Instagram account, the Abu Dhabi Police posted informative ads about traffic rules and the respective fines for offenders.
For example, motorists can only have their car windows tinted up to 50 percent. If it exceeds more than 50 percent, the Abu Dhabi Police can charge the motorist with Dh 1,500 fine.
Motorists should also refrain from texting while driving or any forms of distractions or else, they have to pay Dh800 fine and earn four black points.
If the motorist’s vehicle is causing unnecessary noise because of its modified engine, they will have to pay a Dh2,000 fine and accumulate as many as 12 black points.
The Abu Dhabi Police are also releasing ads for road tips in avoiding accidents.
The number of severely injured people decreased from 16 cases to six from January 1 to 31 while the number of recorded accidents went down from 118 to 54, Gulf News has written in their report.
