Cebu Pacific warns against unauthorized online travel agents

Cebu Pacific issued an advisory to the public to take extra precaution when booking flights through online travel agents (OTA).

The company OTAs have no authority to conduct transactions on behalf of the airline company.

It also warned passengers as their bookings and reservations they saw in OTAs may not reflect in the airline’s system.

Requests for in-flight meals, extra baggage, and seat selection in OTAs may not be followed, the statement said.

“Since these OTAs have neither authority from, nor permission to transact in behalf of Cebu Pacific, any flight bookings or reservations made by or through them might not be reflected in Cebu Pacific’s booking reservation system. Moreover, requests for ancillary services such as meals, seat selection and baggage allowance might not also be reflected in the Cebu Pacific booking system since these OTAs are not synced to that of the airline,” the statement read.

“In addition, since these unauthorized OTAs are not linked to the Cebu Pacific booking system,” it said, “the airline does not have the contact details—which are important for the airline to relay information in case there are flight changes.”

Cebu Pacific reminded passengers to only book flights through their official website or mobile app.
