UAE hailed as 10th best country for expats —HSBC report

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) continues to be one of the most preferred countries of expatriates from across the world, according to a recent survey conducted by multinational banking company, HSBC.

In the recent HSBC Expat Explorer Survey released on Wednesday, September 27, the UAE moved up two spots, now ranking 10th best country in the world. It has secured the highest spot among Arab nations.

The report, which surveyed expats in 46 countries, assessed the migrant workers’ financial, professional, and personal fulfillment through economics, experience, and family.

The UAE ranked fifth in economics, citing high satisfaction in terms of wage growth, savings, and career advancement.

“Income was a key factor for many in making the decision to move to the country as more than half or 56 percent moved to improve their earnings,” the report read.

The country also ranked 20th in experience and 24th in family.

More than half or 55 percent of expats say their work and life balance is better than it was at their home country, while 62 percent say their overall quality of life has improved in the UAE.

“It’s understandable then that a large number of expats stay for some time. More than eight in ten expats have lived in the UAE for more than two years compared to the global average of seven in ten,” the report adds.

Singapore came first overall as the number one destination for expats, followed by Norway, New Zealand, Germany, and Netherlands.
