Policeman fell to death after zipline snaps

An adventurous moment turned into a tragic one as a policeman fell to his death after his zipline snapped inside a resort in Los Baños, Laguna on September 26.

The victim was identified as Police Officer 1 Andrew Tamayo, 32, who was assigned in Los Baños. He was in Laresio Lakeside Resort & Spa to spend time with his girlfriend.

He died while undergoing treatment at Healthserv Medical Center after sustaining injuries when he fell three meters down into a lake.

According to police reports, Tamayo tried the resort’s zipline that crosses over a lake when it snapped as he was about 10 to 20 meters through it.

Police reports also said it took 10 to 15 minutes before the resort’s life guards rescued him.

Initial investigations suggested that Tamayo died from drowning despite wearing a life vest and head gear when he tried the zipline.

Tamayo’s body is currently undergoing autopsy.

The family of the policeman has yet to file charges against Laresio Lakeside Resort & Spa but they have already contacted the resort about the incident.
