Is Duterte going to join a protest on September 21?

President Rodrigo Duterte told the media in Caloocan that he might join a rally on September 21 or what he declared as “National Day of Protest”.

In an ambush interview, he jokingly said that he might join a rally because his and other government officials’ salary is just scantily.

He also joked that people from the media industry should also join the protest because their salary is also insufficient.

The President said the “National Day of Protest” will serve as an avenue for people to vent their criticisms to the government.

He also ordered suspension of classes and government office operations on September 21 although he clarified that it’s not a holiday.

September 21 also coincides with the 45th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law under the regime of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
