After the House of Representatives (HOR) decided to minimize the Commission on Human Rights’ (CHR) budget to a mere P1,000 for the next fiscal year, people used their social media accounts to voice out their thoughts and opinions about the decision.
Some celebrities took a time off from their job and also posted what they think about the decision.
Filipina TV host Bianca Gonzales-Intal said the budget will hurt the welfare of the commission’s staff members.
So hindi maa-afford ng #CHR ang magbayad ng kuryente, tubig at internet ng isang buwan.
AY. Wala din palang masweswelduhan ni isang staff.

ABS-CBN News Anchor Karen Davila expressed her surprise to the number of solons who disapproved the P1,000 budget proposal for the commission.
Only 32 are thinking straight? Am really curious who are the 119 & what their reasons are https://t.co/kCn1IXogDB

On the other hand, Presidential Communications Operations Office assistant secretary Mocha Uson favored the decision by pointing out that CHR Chairman Chito Gascon has been biased on taking cases. Below are some of her posts on social media:
During the House budget plenary debates, 119 solons approved the P1,000 budget for the CHR while only 32 solons disapproved it.
Gascon expressed his hope for the Senate to reverse the budget proposal and give them their proposed budget of P678 million.
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said the CHR had it coming because they keep on protecting the criminals’ rights over others.
Some senators including Panfilo Lacson, JV Ejercito, Manny Pacquiao, Sonny Angara and Ralph Recto have vowed to restore the P678 million budget.
