Edumundo Catangay, the OFW who won a Dh150,000 or P2 million worth of 1 kg gold, said that he has already made his plans with the prize he won at the Dubai Summer Surprises Festival.
“I’ve already cashed in the gold bar and I sent the money, about Dh150,000, back home. We’re planning to buy a house and a plot of land. This is my future set now,” Khaleej Times quoted him as saying.

The two-year OFW in Dubai also narrated that he usually enters raffle draws in malls but never won something as big as a gold bar before.
“I’ve been here for two years and I often enter these raffle draws in mall for a potential win, but I never thought it would happen.”
Catangay bought a gold bracelet in Malabar on July 28 and his purchase was automatically entered the draw.
After one month of buying the gold bracelet, Catangay was surprised to receive a “life-changing” anonymous phone call that would notify of his lucky win.
“I received calls, like five times on Tuesday, August 15. I thought they were prank call as I didn’t even remember entering in a draw. But last Sunday, on August 20, it was finally confirmed that I really won the prize. I was very happy,” he said.
