Dubai Hospital waives medical expenses of 167 patients

The declaration of 2017 as the “Year of Giving” has continued to shower aid for UAE residents, this time for underprivileged patients who needed assistance for their medical expenses.

A total of 167 patients with financial difficulties at Dubai Hospital were relieved from paying medical fees as part of the Year of Giving initiatives of the hospital’s Social Services Department, the group said on its Twitter account.

Kafa Al Matri, Head of Social Services Department at Dubai Hospital, partnered with Dubai Health Authority’s Mussadah committee, Dar Al Ber Society, the Emirates Red Crescent, and other institutions to assist the needy patients.

“We at Social Services Department coordinate with government organizations and charities to help patients with financial difficulties,” Al Matri said.

Half of the total number of patients are nursing cancer-related cases, while 40 percent are receiving treatment for Kidney diseases.

The remaining 10 percent availed of other medical services that were present at the hospital.

Dubai Hospital’s act of charity serves as a response to President High Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s declaration of 2017 as the ‘Year of Giving’ and to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
