Police autopsy found 2 shots of killed OFW’s son

Kian Delos Santos, the 17-year-old son of an overseas Filipino worker in Saudi Arabia, was shot twice in the head, according to the autopsy report by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory.

The report contrasted to the autopsy done by the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) forensic laboratory, which showed that Delos Santos was twice in the ear and once in the back.

Medico legal officer Jane Monson said in a press briefing the two bullets that Delos Santos sustained entered his left ear and went out to the other side.

She also said that the gunshots Delos Santos received does not automatically mean the OFW’s son was on the ground when he had the “finishing shot”.

“[Puwedeng] matangkad ‘yung assailant kasi pababa, or ‘yung position nasa steep [place] sila tas nasa taas ‘yung bumabaril. Pero we cannot really say na nakahiga or ano,” she said.

The “finishing shot” that PAO claims is impossible as the PNP Crime Laboratory did not find any soot or stippling that would suggest a pointblank shot on Delos Santos, Monson said.

The PNP Crime Laboratory said it was hard to trace the entry and exit points of the bullets because it was embalmed already before it was conducted to autopsy procedure.

Under PNP’s protocol, dead bodies in violent crimes should not be embalmed without undergoing autopsy. However, Monson said that it is not on their control sometimes, as families prefer to embalm the body immediately.

Delos Santos’ mother Lorenzana came her home on August 19 to visit her son’s wake.
