‘Filipinos are our partners, not guests’—Dubai Police

Dubai Police reiterated the Filipino community’s inclusiveness in the emirate by urging them to be “partners” in upholding the law.

In a special community forum held by the Diplomatic and Consular Affairs Section of Dubai Police, in partnership with the Philippine Consulate-General, Lt. Col. Dr. Juma Ali Al Rahoomi urged Filipinos, especially overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), in contributing to the force’s efforts to eradicate crime.

“You are our partners, not guests. You are part of the UAE community. That’s why we would like [to thank you] for allowing us to educate you on UAE laws and we urge you to spread the information you will get from here to your colleagues,” Gulf News quoted Al Rahoomi as saying.

According to Captain Ahmad Bin Fahad of the Smart Services Department, Filipinos may report crimes easily through 901 hotline or through Dubai Police App’s Dubai Police Eye and We Are Police sections as well as the 901 hotline.

“The Dubai Police is a social police. We are one with the people. We are here to help and not be suspicious of everyone,” Fahad said.

Among the crimes that Filipinos should report are drug-related cases, alcohol. Suspicious vehicle, illegal phone credit sale, gambling, begging, prostitution, and sex-out-of-wedlock.

Consul-General Paul Raymund Cortes also called on Filipinos to contribute in efforts to making UAE a safe place of residence.
