John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo had been partners on screen for several movies, but the two never got the chance to bring romance in real life.
But if only timing were on his side, John Lloyd would have made a move.
“Timing has always been an issue,” declared John Lloyd, implying that one of them would be dating someone else when the other was single.
“Timing is not our friend. I have always felt this affection for her. I wonder if this would ever disappear… These days, I just observe her from afar. I’m OK with that.”
He added, “She has this certain charm—she is well-loved, even by my own mom and aunties,” he added.
Local reports showed John Lloyd has not been in a relationship since his breakup with Angelica Panganiban last year, but Sarah is currently dating Matteo Guidicelli.
The Sarah-Lloydie tandem first starred in the box-office hit “A Very Special Love” in 2008, followed by its sequels “You changed my life” in 2009 and “It takes a man and a woman” in 2013.
Their latest project, titled “Finally Found Someone,” hit cinemas on July 26 and has earned P100 million (Dh7.26 million) in four days.
Cruz said their most recent project turned out successful because of affection.
“It’s impossible to be able to make a film like this if we don’t feel something for each other,” John Lloyd said.
Meanwhile, Sarah said she also appreciates John Lloyd. “Thanks! That’s Lloydie’s role in my life—to appreciate me. For that, I’m happy.”
The singer-actress added she also feels special connection with the actor.
“It is not just chemistry, it is a gift. We are blessed to be given this kind of tandem. With it, we were able to make many people happy.”
