Duterte on terror attacks: I will not allow this country to go to the dogs

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday has warned about the “harsh” response he will do should extremist groups allow the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) to get in the country, saying he will not let the Philippines be under the group’s terror.

“I will not allow this country to go to the dogs,” Duterte said In a press conference after he arrived to the Philippines from Russia.

“I am appealing to the humanity of everybody. Do not allow the ISIS to come it I warn you gain Do not do it. Because as I have said, my response will be harsh. I will not be hesitant to protect the Filipino nation,” Duterte said.

The President made the statement after he declared Martial Law in all Mindanao following the attacks of the Maute group in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur yesterday, May 23.

The Maute group has promised allegiance to ISIS.

Duterte also mentioned what he would do should the situation become worse.

“If i think you should die, you will die. If there is an open defiance, you will die. And if many people die because of defying, so be it,” the president said.

Duterte, however, clarified that the punishments in Martial Law is “not for the law-abiding citizens but for those who defy”.

“Let us solve the problem of Mindanao once and for all,” he said.
