Closed lane in Ibn Battuta for Dubai Route’s 2020 project

One lane in Ibn Battuta street will be closed for Dubai Route’s 2020 project, the Arabian Business reported.

According the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the lane that will be closed is located between Intersection 2 and 6.

“The diversion will remain in place until the vital project is completed,” the report said.

“RTA has mapped out a plan for traffic diversions required for Route 2020 Project, which would be implemented in phases covering all areas through which the route passes,” Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA’s Traffic & Roads Agency, was quoted as saying.

“Works in Route 2020 would be running 24/7 until the completion of the entire works of the project,” she added.

The Arabian Business reported that Thales, a French company, was contracted for the upgrade on Dubai Metro’s Red Line.

Motorists were told to follow traffic rules and be aware of traffic diversions.

Route 2020 “extends about 15 kilometers from Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station on the Red Line,” the report said.

With seven stations, it has five elevated stations and two underground stations. It is expected to have 125,000 riders per day by 2020 and 275,000 riders per day by 2030.
