Two suspects were nabbed over the twin bombings of a gas station in Tacuring City, Sultan Kudarat, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported based on police information on Tuesday.
“We cannot conclude yet that this is an act of terrorism. We are looking at all angles as there are threat groups in surrounding areas,” regional police spokesman Superintendent Romeo Galgo told the wire agency.
The motive of the attack is still unknown, Galgo also told AFP. The identities of the suspects have yet to be determined.
The bombing which occurred Monday night injured seven people. The improvised explosive device was reportedly tossed over the roof of the gas station.
Some towns surrounding the area of the blast are strife-torn territories due to a decades-long Muslim insurgency. Mindanao is home to Muslim minorities in the Philippines, who have long been in peace talks with government.
