105 distressed overseas Filipinos from KSA arrive in Manila

A total of 105 distressed overseas Filipino (OFs) from Saudi Arabia arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 today.

The chosen OFs were granted amnesty by the Saudi Arabian government on April 13.

They are the third batch to come home under the Saudi Arabia’s “A Nation without Illegal Expatriates” campaign.

It can be remembered that thousands of OFs in the kingdom have been stranded and jobless as an effect of the oil slump and the Saudization policy.

Earlier, the Saudi government announced that it will implement a 90-day amnesty program for undocumented foreign workers to facilitate their repatriation.

In the two-day visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in Saudi, it was reported that more than 160 “runaway” Filipinos can now come home without any legal liability from the Saudi government.
