4 injured as Dubai’s 60-story skyscraper catches fire

Four people sustained injuries in a blaze that engulfed a 60-story skyscraper under construction near the world’s tallest tower Burj Khalifa on Sunday, April 2.

The fire caused major traffic jams around the area. The cause has not yet been detected.

Four people were locked up in higher floors, but fire brigades managed to rescue them, local media reported.

The tower complex under construction consists of three towers with 60 levels each.

It was scheduled to be completed by April 2018. Black smoke painted the sky black in the heart of Dubai and triggered massive traffic jams around the Dubai Business Bay on Sunday morning.

Local authorities tweeted about several traffic accidents which occurred due to the traffic congestion.
