Fisherman who was lost at sea for 56 days completes his way back home

Twenty-one year old Rolando Omongos has successfully made his way back home to General Santos City last Thursday after his 56-day ordeal in the ocean.

The young fisherman who was rescued in Papua New Guinea, after a storm separated him and his uncle Reniel from their fishing vessel.

Unfortunately, his uncle died after a month due to hunger and exhaustion. Omongos sailed off from General Santos on December 21 along with other fishermen aboard the bigger vessel.

Omongos was rescued on March 9, fetched by a representative of Naia’s inter-agency council against trafficking from the airport and was sent on a flight back home to General Santos City on Thursday morning finally reuniting with his family.
