Lithium-ion battery operated gadget cause fire on flight

Always check your gadgets especially the lithium-ion battery operated as they can cause fire due to overheating.

In a recent incident, a woman suffered burns to her face and hands after her headphones caught fire on board an aircraft to Australia, reported The Express Tribune.

The passenger was reportedly listening to music on her own battery-operated headphones, as she fell sleep when a loud explosion was suddenly heard.

The girl immediately grabged her face, which caused the headphones to go around her neck. She continued to feel burning so she grabbed them off and threw them on the floor.

“They were sparking and had small amounts of fire,” the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) quoted the woman as saying

Flight attendants rushed to help and poured a bucket of water on the headphones, but the battery and its cover were both melted and stuck to the floor.

The transport safety bureau did not identify which airline was involved. -KCO
