An Asian woman entering the UAE was busted for carrying a dosage of marijuana in one of her bags in the airport was sentenced to five years in prison by the Sharjah Criminal Court.
The accused was flying in with his husband and son when she was nabbed by the police at the airport according to the incident report acquired by The Khaleej Times.
As it turns out, test results revealed that she has been a regular user of the illegal substance, subsequently confessing that she takes it for personal reasons.
After she finishes serving her jail time, the woman, who is in her late 40s will immediately be deported to her home country.
His mother used the drug and had also brought it for the family, said the smuggler’s son and only child, to the police when questioned about why his mother was smuggling illegal marijuana to the UAE.
He then furthered that as a family, they “took the drug to cope with familial and debt issues.”
