OFW forges telcom docs, steals smartphones in Kuwait

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) landed in jail in Kuwait after he allegedly forged documents of a telecommunications company.

The modus was believe to have been used in steal smartphones and sold them at a lower price.

The unidentified Filipino man has gotten hold of the password of a friend who worked in a telecom shop. He managed to bag 16 iPhone 7 Plus units and stash mobile plans, registering them under the names of existing customers whose profiles were saved on the system, after he fiddled with the system.

He then sold the iPhone devices 20 percent cheaper than their original price, Kuwaiti Times reported.

The suspect was arrested after several customers complained to the telecom company that they received payment notices of phone plans they never purchased.
The suspect admitted to the crimes he committed, when apprehended by authorities.
