Foreign firms want to backup nationwide broadband project, Cabinet member says

Talk about the proposed nationwide broadband project is picking up steam once again after it was recently divulged that some foreign firms are willing to back it up financially.

Communications Technology Secretary Rodolfo Salalima sat down with ANC’s “Headstart” and revealed that corporations from China, Europe, Israel, Germany, United Kingdom, and the United States have pledged willingness to work on the plan.

“It is very important that even as we will have one digitized network with common bases, we have to protect the privacies of all these data,” Salalima iterated to show host, Karen Davila.

As of now, the national broadband project has already been approved and signed by President Duterte which means that the current administration is serious about making sure that this will finally see the light of day. For years, the government has been trying to push for a uniformed internet service infrastructure. Unfortunately, marred with corruption rumors rooted from Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s failed NBN ZTE deal, it never really came to fruition.
