Pinay among most powerful female engineers in US

Anne Aaron, a Filipina engineer who works at Netflix, has been included in Business Insider’s “43 Most Powerful Female Engineers of 2017”.
Aaron, who is no. 32 on the list, is director of Video Algorithms at Netflix, reported ABS-CBN News.

“She leads a team of software engineers and research scientists. They make the software that enables more than 86 million Netflix members worldwide to watch streaming with the best possible quality,” Business Insider reportedly said.

So, if you love the quality of “Stranger Things” or “Narcos” as they stream on your phone, tablet, PC or Smart TV, you have Aaron and her team to thank for, the reports said.

Aaron graduated Valedictorian and Magna Cum Laude from the Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics (1998) and Computer Engineering (1999).

She went on to Stanford University to get her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, said the news portal.

Aaron started with Netflix in 2011 as a senior engineer and worked her way up, reported Business Insider.

Before her gig at Netflix, Aaron also worked at tech powerhouse Cisco Systems as a Senior Software Engineer for Video Codecs, said the news portal.
