DOLE to reshuffle PH officials in Kuwait

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III is eyeing to reshuffle Philippine officials in Kuwait amid the execution of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) last week.
“Siguro kailangan ng konting balasa,” Bello told radio DZMM.
Lawmakers have called out the Philippine envoy in Kuwait for the alleged lack of coordination and action on cases involving distressed OFWs.
“Biro mo, hindi man lang tayo sinasabihan na mayroon pala tayong kababayan na nasa death row. Una kong reaction, ire-recall ko mga tao dyan,” he said.
Bello is ordering all Philippine labor attaches around the world to submit a list of detained Filipinos and those on death row, a report from ABS-CBN said.
“Mayroon din akong utos sa kanila na lahat ng ating kababayang nakakulong ay dadalawin at least once a month,” he said.
Bello, who arrived in Kuwait hours after Pawa was executed, also looked into the plight of hundreds of distressed OFWs currently housed at a temporary shelter there.
On January 26, the Labor Secretary flew to Kuwait again in a bid to avert the execution of another OFW Elpidio Nano.
According Bello, Nano was arrested in 2008 after he was accused of killing another OFW, engineer Nilo Macaranas, and was subsequently sentenced to death.
