A Dubai Criminal Court heard the case of a laborer who allegedly attacked a woman on the street, punched her in the chest, then sexually assaulted her.
The Indian construction worker, 22, denied charges of sexual and physical assault and consuming alcohol without a licence, reported The National.
The court reportedly heard that on January 31 the Filipino woman was walking home from a supermarket in Satwa at about 10:30 pm when she saw the defendant approaching her.
“He grabbed me violently on the private parts so I slapped him on the hand with the bag I was carrying, then he punched me in the chest and I fell to the ground,” the victim, 26, reportedly said.
She reportedly ran away but a compatriot who saw her helped restrain the offender.
A policeman reportedly told the court: “When we arrested him he was completely drunk and said nothing except that he was sorry.”
A verdict will be issued on January 18, said the news portal.
