Fire breaks out in building housing Filipinos

A fire broke out in a building that mainly houses Filipino expats in Bur Dubai’s Bank Street on Monday afternoon.

The blaze is suspected to have started on the third floor and has forced residents to evacuate the building, Gulf News quoted eyewitnesses as saying.

Some residents were treated for smoke inhalation while firefighters fought to douse the fire, the report said.

“Some five to six of them were taken to the ambulances and were treated for smoke inhalation. Some others sustained minor injuries. They are all very panicky,” an Indian man reportedly said.

Several people crowded near the building located behind ADCB bank. Vehicles of Dubai Civil Defense, Dubai Police and ambulances were on the site for long, said the news portal.
