Abu Dhabi Police raise road safety awareness in Filipino

ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi Police have launched a social media campaign to raise awareness about road safety among expats in Filipino and many other languages, including English, Arabic and Urdu.

The new campaign is poised to make the remove a huge barrier in communication – language and further facilitate road safety in the emirate, reported Khaleej Times.

The campaign makes it easier to broadcast kind reminders to motorists in a language that they are comfortable with, the report said.

In its inaugural post, the first reminder that Abu Dhabi Police raised was to avoid using mobile phones while driving – one of the most common cases while driving not only in the capital, but also across the UAE, said the news portal.

Police in the UAE are setting an example for other countries in the region, with a large expat population, that in order to maintain the safety of its inhabitants, one must learn to communicate, said the KT report.

Residents have been advised to follow and like Abu Dhabi Police’s social media channels @ADPoliceHQ and @ADPolice_HQ in Snapchat for more of these well-thought out updates, it added.
