New agri-business program for OFWs kicks-off

DUBAI: The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Dubai has officially launched on Friday, October 14, the Dubai EntrePinoy Reintegration Program, which involves production, marketing, and distribution of organic rice from the Philippines, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by Philippine Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes, Labor Attaché Ofelia Domingo, Mlang Municipality Mayor RusselAbonado, and Romano Laurilla, general manager of Don Bosco Multipurpose Cooperative (DBMC)at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Dubai.

Dubai EntrePinoy aims to help boost Philippine economy by giving overseas Filipinos who have returned to the country new business opportunities, and at the same time provide employment and business opportunities for OFWs in Dubai and Northern Emirates.

Domingo, who conceptualized the program stressed, the agri-business will provide a doorway for economic opportunity and social responsibility for OFWs in Dubai and Northern Emirates. It will also reduce the social costs of migration as it endeavors to help returning OFWs and their families, she said.

Dubai EntrePinoy is a collaboration between POLO-Dubai, Philippine Consulate General Dubai and Northern Emirates (PCG-DNE), Filipino Human Resources Practitioners’ Association (Fil-HR-Dubai), DBMC, and the municipality of Mlang, North Cotabato.
