Miss United Continents winner back in Philippines

MANILA: Newly-crowned Miss United Continents 2016 Jeslyn Santos is back in the Philippines amid warm welcome at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Parañaque City.

Santos, 23, is the first Filipino to win the title in the beauty contest which has gained popularity in Central and South Americas, reported Manila Bulletin.

She was met by her mentor John dela Vega who personally handpicked her to join the international pageant, the report siad.

“I still couldn’t believe it that I’m wearing the crown and it hasn’t sunk in because I haven’t had any full sleep since I won,” she reportedly said.

Asked what made her win the pageant, the Bulakenya was quoted as saying: “I think one of the reasons why I won was my punctuality. And I’m always prepared and dressed up. I always try to be presentable even during breakfasts. I don’t go out without any make-up on.”

Santos also reportedly believes that she nailed the question-and-answer portion when she gave an answer in straight Spanish and was later met with a loud applause from the audience and co-candidates.

The next day, photos of the newly crowned beauty queen landed on the front pages of major dailies in Ecuador, reported Manila Bulletin.
