Discover the purpose of your life

DUBAI: “I’ve been in the media industry for quite a long time now, I used to work in different companies but one day, I woke up asking myself, what is my purpose? What am I doing here? Then, I said the best thing is yet to come, and that was “Last Christmas,” my first ever film that went viral on the internet,” said Patrick Fronda, TFT Filmmaker of the Year 2016 nominee.

At some point in our life, the same question will knock on our doors: Do we really know why we exist? What is the purpose of our life? For Fronda, the release of Last Christmas served as the gauge for him to know what exactly the reason why he exists – and that is to be a filmmaker. “I produced this film from my own pocket.

I gathered a dedicated crew and actors to create such a heart touching story of an OFW and after the first day released, it went viral and reached some 800,000 views. I am very glad that I was able to reach the people through the message of the film,” Fronda said. “I want to influence people through my art, producing films that will inspire, send good message, and empower other people, especially the Filipinos in the UAE,” he added.

Fronda also believes that lack of communication and critical thinking skills are some of the reasons why there are distressed Filipinos abroad, who serve as his inspiration in filmmaking. “We, Filipinos, are great leaders, we are smart people but the lack of communication skills creates barriers and these barriers slow down our success.

What we can do is to continue attending trainings and seminars that will help us to improve it,” he said. “What we can do is educate ourselves or create special seminars that address this issue; it will unlock our potential and we can achieve what we believed unachievable,” he said.
