First ever ‘rainforest in the sky’ set to rise in Dubai

Last October, news came out that a new skyscraper with its very own rainforest inside is being built in Dubai. Recently, it has been confirmed that the skyscraper is indeed going to rise at the Rosemont Hotel and Residences, situated on Sheikh Zayed Road close to Tecom Barsha Heights.

New pictures of the 75,000-square-foot jungle recently surfaced online and everyone is amazed of its beauty. The Dhs2 billion dual skyscraper complex, being constructed under the direction of ZAS Architects Dubai, will each stand over 50 stories tall. One of the towers will serve as a hotel, while the other will be made up of serviced apartments.

The rainforest will consist of a 75,000-square-foot jungle, as well as a splash pool, café and artificial beach. For the families, there’ll be plenty of trail and play zones, as well as a Jurassic-inspired marsh for the little ones. Don’t worry, it’s dinosaur-free. The futuristic terrarium will also use recycled water collected from condensation in order to imitate the humid climate of a real rainforest.

Upon stepping into the lobby, guests will find themselves beneath a ceiling with an ever-changing 3D projection to trick them into thinking they’re either inside a lush rainforest, underwater paradise and everything in between. On the higher floors, you’ll also find a skypool with a star-studded base, so you can swim while peering out over sprawling views of the city.

The Rosemont Hotel and Residences complex is looking to open in 2018.
