Help pours in for actor Dick Israel after viral Facebook post

Veteran actor Dick Israel turned emotional as help continues to pour in from his friends and colleagues within and outside showbiz.

“Maraming salamat sa inyo. Nakakalaki ng puso. You make me feel very happy. Salamat po,” he said, his voice cracking  in a radio interview.

Israel said he is currently staying at a hotel with his wife and children. Apart from losing his house, Israel is also recovering from stroke.

Among the things which he badly needs is a pair of eyeglasses because he lost his old one in the fire.

Through the years, Israel has been recognized for his acting by local award-giving bodies.

He was awarded Best Supporting Actor in 1988 for his role in “Patrolman” at the Metro Manila Film Festival, and in 1995 for his portrayal in “Kanto Boy 2: Anak ni Totoy Guapo” at the FAMAS Awards, among others.

He is best known for taking on villain roles on the big and small screens.

On Monday, Damay Kamay, an organization founded by artists to provide assistance to their needy colleagues in the entertainment industry, launched a fundraising campaign for Israel.

Cash donations can be deposited at Security Bank’s Tomas Morato branch, under the checking account number 5318 2600 0275 006. Goods can be dropped off at 7A Sta. Elvira St. Brgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig City.
