Two Christians and a Muslim have been sentenced to death for blasphemy by the Anti-Terrorism Court in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
The Anti-Terrorism Court Gujranwala Judge Bushra Zaman pronounced death penalty to Anjum Naz Sindhu, Javed Naz and Jaffar Ali for committing blasphemy.
Apart from 35-year imprisonment to Javed Naz and Jaffar Ali, the judge has also imposed a fine of Rs. eight million each on both. The judge has also imposed a fine of Rs. five million on Anjum.
Pakistan has extreme strict laws against blasphemy and rights campaigners say they are often used to settle personal disputes in a country where 97% of the population is Muslim.
