DUBAI: A court is set to sentence on July 24 a housemaid who admitted stealing Dh10,000 in cash and Dh60,000 worth of jewelry (about PhP900,000 in all) from her Emirati employer.
The Dubai Criminal Court was told the incident took place on July 21, 2013 when Emirati, MA, 29, and his family went out of their home but forgot to lock his bedroom, reports Emirates 24/7.
“I saw the jewelry and the money in the drawer before I went out, but I forgot to lock the room. When we came back, the cash and jewelry were gone. We searched for the valuables but did not find them. We suspected the maid stole our belongings and we were right,” the employer told the court.
The maid was also gone when the family returned home.
Upon investigation, police found some of the jewelry in Sharjah. The maid was later arrested and charged with theft.
