Bullets, deadly weapons found on LRT passengers

MANILA: Some bullets, brass knuckles and pocket knives, among other prohibited items, were confiscated from passengers taking the Light Rail Transport in various locations.

The Philippine News Agency said the private sector operator of the Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1) has gradually stepped up security measures which resulted to the confiscation of more prohibited items from passengers this month.

With stepped up measures, authorities have seized prohibited items totaling 219 this month, from only 27 in March.

The operator assured that security measures will continue to assure the safety of passengers riding the railway system.

The LRMC won the contract for the extension of the 20.7- kilometer LRT-1 in Metro Manila to Cavite last year. LRT-1 runs from Roosevelt station in Quezon City to Baclaran station in Pasay.
