Kuwait to hire 2K Filipino nurses with $900 entry-level salary

MANILA: Job openings are aplenty for more than 2,000 Filipino nurses in Kuwait, according to Philippine Association of Service Exporters, Inc (PASEI).

Filipino nurses can easily draw a minimum monthly salary of $900 at the entry level itself, GMA News quoted PASEI President Elsa Villa.

Villa said that the labor minister and a group of private corporations in Kuwait told them new hospitals are expected to be constructed there in the next few months, hence increasing the demand for thousands of workers in the construction field as well.

Job orders are expected to be issued through PASEI soon.

“This is one area in Kuwait where there will be an increase in demand of medical workers but the private sector will be able to tell the requirements, mga nurses ito,” Villa reportedly said.

PASEI and its more than 3,000 licensed accredited recruitment agency in the Philippines are also awaiting job orders from Germany for Nurses, said the news portal.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) earlier reported that Germany is in need of 200,000 nurses until 2020.

Germany, according to DOLE and POEA, is showing keen interest in hiring Filipino nurses as Filipinos are known to be naturally “caring and nurturing.”

The opportunities for Filipino nurses to work in Germany were a result of the Triple Win Project under the Philippines-Germany government to government hiring agreement.

“Because of their (Germany) aging society there’s a need for around 200,000 nurses; just to clarify yung demand ng isang host country has to be translated into actual job orders from Philippine licensed agencies and their duly registered foreign employers,” POEA administrator Hans Cacdac reportedly said.

POEA is expected to receive job orders from accredited employers from Germany in the next three months or so. Geriatric care and knowledge of German language are some of the requisites to qualify for the post.

According to DOLE, the POEA governing board has decided to expand the Triple Win Project and include the participation of private recruitment agencies, GMA News reported.
